Kim Kustemur (7/7/2011): I have been enjoying picnics at Burlholme Park for many years......this has been the worst I have seen those bathrooms. How are people supposed to enjoy an afternoon of picnics and playground if you cannot send your children to use a decent bathroom? And then....on 4th of July weekend, in the middle of our outing, the bathrooms were locked???? We paid $30 for the permit, had an area without shade then couldn't even use the bathrooms! How disappointing! (report as inappropriate)
The ALAN (10/19/2011): I agree with Kim. The brick pavilion housing the public restrooms, located between picnic areas #3 and #4, next to the childrens play area, are positively a discrace! The Fairmount Park Rangers are resposible for opening and closing these restrooms but they are often opened late, closed early, or not opened at all! When they're not open, the excuse is that it is because of vandalism. The actual reason is that no one bothered to open them. There is no heat so they are closed during the winter months. As for the lack of shade, several old trees were removed from the picnic areas due to safety concers and were never replaced. I hope the new Parks & Recreation can address these concerns! (report as inappropriate)
