Ross (11/20/2011): South River Farms Park would be a great location for recreational dog training and competitions. The park has a mix of woods, water and fields. We always here about the need for a horse park in the Annapolis area but we never hear about the need for a park for dog training and competitions such as obedience, field and retriever training and trials. Other types of dog training and competitions are becoming more and more popular such as agility, water rescue, tracking, Frisbee, dock diving. There is nowhere in Anne Arundel County or anywhere near that supports this. Anne Arundel County has one of the best Parks and Recreation departments in the country. A world class dog training and competition facility would benefit an under-served segment of our population, dog owners and trainers, and spark a renewed interest in one of our area's lost traditions of breeding and training working retrievers. I heard recently their are more Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in Wisconsin than Maryland. What a shame. (report as inappropriate)
