Not worth the fee per person to visit this "beach" its' nice but very small, its a nice little walk to the beach but its certainly not worth 10.00 per adult and 6.00 for a kid. I loved this beach in years past but will NOT be visiting again since they now charge per person. I can completely agree with charging per car to park, like Calvert Cliffs does, but the walk is very short, the beach is very small and chances are you dont have a place to sit and will leave even after paying this insane fee to go there. Sorry Calvert County, you have lost an avid beach goer to your greed.

Will not be visiting Brownies beach. How absurd to charge such admission fees. For dirty beach, long walk to beach, no lifeguards? We'll find another beach, much cleaner and no ridiculous admission fees!!! Shame on Calvert County government! Should hide their heads in the sand!

I work at Flag Ponds Nature Park - south of Prince Frederick, but before the Nuclear Power Plant and our fees are $3 per vehicle in the Winter and $4 for County residents/$6 for out of County per vehicle from Memorial Day to Labor Day. My understanding is that Bayfront Beach is owned by the township of Chesapeake Beach - the County Government has nothing to do with the fees being charged there. That's done by the local Chesapeake Beach government. In their defense, I know that Beach was initially intended mainly for the use by residents of Chesapeake Beach. As fossil hunting there became more popular, people from other areas started showing up, taking up a majority of the parking spots, digging into the cliffs (which is ILLEGAL!!) and leaving their trash behind for others from the community to clean up! That being said - I do agree with the majority, that the fees are quite high. Just be careful of pointing fingers before you do the research!

Most of the people that go to Brownies are not fossil hunting, many of the people there don't even know there are fossils there. The fossil hunters that go to Brownies do not dig in the cliffs for fossils, it is impossible to reach high enough to get to the fossils unless you have a 50 foot bionic arm. It is legal to dig in a pile that has fallen from the cliffs. The high fees have not stopped many people from going there, the parking lot is always packed.

According to most of the people I know, the increase in fees has stopped quite a large number of people from going here. The Park is free in the off season to anyone. While the previous person said that "fossil hunters that go to Brownies (now known as Bayfront Park)do not dig in the cliffs for fossils". The pile (or scree) which is built up at the base of the cliffs is caused by natural and un-natural erosion. I've seen people climb these piles and dig into the cliffs at the top of them. Some of these erosion piles are quite high. People with all sorts of tools. Once I saw a hole at the base of the cliffs that was so big you could put a VW bug in it! The cliffs at Randle Cliffs (immediately south and where most of the serious fossil hunting is done) are very unstable - probably the most unstable in all of Calvert County! It's just a matter of time before someone will be seriously hurt or killed there. At least that's the way I see it. Is it worth a Meg tooth?

I visited this secluded beautiful little beach several times years ago and returned today and was dumbfounded with regard to the fees. Yes, I would pay to park, but the only 'amenities' this beach has are a couple of trash cans and porta-Johns. If the idea is to keep people away, it's a great idea because although we love the rustic, quiet little place, we won't be back.

Im glad all of you decide to find other beaches, we are tired of all the trash left behind from visitors. Please, dont come back, there are plenty other beaches in this area, go there, leave us our "dirty trashy beach" to ourselves.
