Joyce Paul (11/19/2010): In 1951, The New York Avenue Playground became one of the first bi-racial playgrounds in Washington D.C. The neighborhood nicknamed it the white and colored playground because at last the colored children could play on a real playground. New Equipment was ordered and built 10 years ago, the basketball court was refurbished and each year a basketball tournament is held. A celebration of the 10th Annual Basketball tournament was sponsored by METROBALL. (report as inappropriate)
